If you’re going to TDF, you may as well TDF properly…

We’re very fortunate to be surrounded by amazing cars on a near enough daily basis, but every so often something comes through our doors which is utterly breathtaking…

This car needs little to no introduction, the Ferrari F12 TDF. A vicious razorback of a car, which takes no prisoners but rewards those who treat it with respect. This is one of the few modern Ferraris that will absolutely slap you silly off if you put a foot wrong, the electronic nanny systems are good…but this car bites back.

As standard it’s probably one of the finest sounding cars Ferrari has ever built, but as is always the case – we can elicit SO much more.

This particular customer wanted the “christmas tree” spec exhaust, and we were more than happy to oblige.

As standard the car wears 800-cell cats, a middle silencer and inconel rear silencers with Valves.

Inconel is an option that rarely gets specified, but it rewards those who do with a weight saving of 7kg as compared to the steel option and, due to the resonant properties of Inconel, a far higher pitched exhaust note. In this case…well, it’s a TDF, was there ever really another option? Inconel rear silencers – tick.

Next we deployed the trust X pipe, which sits in place of the centre silencer. This serves a dual purpose of removing the middle silencer to increase volume slightly, but also by blending the two banks of exhaust gases together we again help to lift the pitch.

Finally, we installed a set of 100-cell sport cats in place of the highly restrictive 800-cell factory versions. This results in a significant volume increase over standard, however it retains a very liveable volume with the valves closed – which means you can drive this thing every day without the fear of blowing out ear drums or getting a load of drone in the cabin.

This video provides one of the most stark contrasts between original and aftermarket we’ve ever seen – the pitch is SO much higher, the car is SO much louder and the car, quite frankly, finally has an exhaust note which lives up to it’s fearsome reputation.

This is, unquestionably, one of the best sounding cars in the UK – there, we said it.
