The first SUV produced by Bentley in large numbers, the Bentayga is still finished at its historic factory in Crewe. Featuring permanent four-wheel drive, along with parts shared with the Audi Q7 and Q8 and the latest Porsche Cayenne, the Bentayga is available with four, five or seven seats, and for a while it was claimed to be the fastest SUV in the world. Bentayga models are fitted with a choice of three engines: a V8 twin turbo petrol model pushing out 542bhp; a three-litre PHEV hybrid V6; or in the range-topping models, a 12-cylinder, 5.9-litre plant, this engine capable of producing 600bhp. The Bentayga has defied sceptics who wondered whether there could be room in an already crowded market for such a premium SUV, with the Crewe factory taking on 1,000 new workers to meet the demand for up to 4,000 of the cars annually.
