There’s clearly something in the water around the Italian city of Modena. Not only has it given us Ferrari, but in 1992 along came another supercar maker - and Pagani quickly set the cat among the pigeons. Founded by former Lamborghini engineer Horacio Pagani, a deal was struck with Mercedes for it to supply V12 engines as used in some of its AMG range. Pagani had to drop plans to name his first car after GP legend Juan Manuel Fangio after the latter’s death in 1995. But the rest of the project continued, and exhibited its first car, the Zonda C12, at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. The Zonda has gone through several production variants, each hand-built by a team of just over 50 employees, and offered with a choice of engines from 6.0 to 7.3 litres. A strong fighter aircraft theme runs through the cars’ design, while other elements are borrowed from the Group C racing cars of the Sauber-Mercedes team from the early 1990s. 

Given the complete package that each of its cars represents, the market for Pagani aftermarket parts is restricted to modifications for its exhaust system.
