Reviving a name first applied to a Ferrari in the 1950s, the latest 2+2 Ferrari California is a two-door sports convertible with a folding hardtop. Originally equipped with a naturally-aspirated 4.3-litre V8 engine, this was replaced in 2014 by a new twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 unit. The car underwent an upgrade in 2012, making it lighter and more powerful, which also saw the removal of the manual gearbox option. This upgrade was also one of the first cars to come under the 'Tailor Made' programme, which gave owners input to their car's design while it was still on the Maranello factory floor. A turbocharged model came in from 2014, with a revised engine and transmission and design cues from the F12. But that was to be the California's swansong, and production was already being wound down.
