Tesla Tuning Products

Tesla is one of the true disruptor companies of the modern era. From making its first prototype car in 2003, it had captured nearly a quarter of the worldwide market in battery-electric cars by the end of 2020. According to Elon Musk, the company’s aim is to “help expedite the move to sustainable transport and energy, obtained through electric vehicles and solar power”. It took six years for the company to move from the initial prototypes to full production of its first car, the Roadster. Based on a Lotus Elise chassis, it was the first mainstream production car to use a lithium-ion battery. In production from 2008 to 2012, about 2,450 Roadsters were sold, to customers in more than 30 countries. Even before its launch in 2007, the Tesla was picking up awards recognising the car’s design and the scale of the innovation involved, Time magazine, Forbes and BusinessWeek among those conferring honours.

Meanwhile, the successor to the original Roadster, whose production was announced in 2017, has become bogged down in delays, and at the time of writing, is not due for release until 2023. In 2010 Tesla began production of its next car, the Model S luxury saloon in 2012. It went on to become the best-selling plug-in electric car in the world in both 2015 and 2016. Next off its production line was the Model X SUV which, by the time the first model came off the production line, had received 25,000 advance orders. Its fourth model, confusingly named the Model 3, a family-sized hatchback, was unveiled in March 2016, and within a week, the company had taken 325,000 reservations - even though production didn’t begin until the following July. Since the first quarter of 2018, the Model 3 has been the company’s best-seller, but its continued sales success meant that, by the third quarter of 2021, it was selling nearly 23 cars for every one of the company’s other models. Although implementation is some way off, Tesla is also heavily involved in research into autonomous driving technology, building on its Autopilot advanced driver-assistance system which has been fitted to all its cars and continually refined since 2014.

Each of the cars put on sale in the UK, the Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X, have sold in appreciable numbers, and continue to be refined. A number of companies are now offering Tesla Model 3 aftermarket parts such as spoilers, body panels and quality alloy wheels. Tesla Model S aftermarket parts now available include a sports suspension upgrade and high-performance carbon ceramic brakes, and Tesla Model X aftermarket parts also include a similar brake upgrade, plus a sleek body kit which makes an already highly-efficient car even more so.
