It was inevitable that Elon Musk would want his company to grab a slice of the biggest pie in the car trade shop, figuratively speaking - the market for SUVs. You’ve no gearbox to contend with, so driving the Model X is much like a regular automatic, except that you might hardly ever use the brake pedal, as the car slows down automatically - and quite strongly - when you lift off the accelerator.
The heavy battery under the floor works in the Model X’s favour when it comes to keeping it level through corners, while the futuristic dashboard is dominated by a large touchscreen which controls most of the on-board functions, and is paired with a separate display in place of the usual instrument panel, to show the kind of information usually displayed by the familiar dials. With five-, six- and seven-seat options, the Model X has more interior flexibility than many rivals, and the big falcon-wing doors giving access to the back is sure to get your passengers talking.
