The lack of the differential saved considerable weight over a regular four-wheel drive set-up, so the FF was just as nimble as its rear wheels-powered only brethren. Where the FF scored in critics' eyes was its lack of any direct competitor, its combination of interior space and the safety offered by its all-wheel drive meant "it's impossible not to be impressed by what Ferrari has achieved," argued Autocar. Possibly an ultimate niche Ferrari, the FF did nevertheless find favour in some quarters.
