Just over a century after producing its first car, the Silver Ghost, Rolls-Royce brought out the Ghost, a scaled-down version of the Phantom. This, its third iteration, is the first not to be built on a BMW platform, instead sharing the ‘Architecture of Luxury’ aluminium chassis also used for the Phantom and the Cullinan SUV. Rolls-Royce says this takes ride comfort levels to new heights, while also making the car much lighter than its predecessors. Both standard-length and extended wheelbase options are offered, the latter coming along in 2021. The longer wheelbase is entirely devoted on the car’s interior to giving more room for the rear passengers. The current Ghost model gets its 563bhp from a 6.7-litre, twin-turbocharged V12 engine which works through an eight-speed automatic gearbox - enough power to take it from rest to 60mph in 4.3 seconds.
