This Carrera S is a stripped-out and beefed-up version of the standard 911-964 Carrera. Fitted with a turbocharged version of the 3.3-litre engine first used in the previous-generation 911, it has been tweaked to give it 376bhp. Although for one year only (1993), it got an even more powerful 3.6-litre plant, and although this only added 4bhp to the 3.3-litre car, this particular model is the most sought-after among collectors with deep pockets. Reckoned by Autocar to be “one of the most unhinged performance cars of its era”, it was pitched as Stuttgart’s answer to the Ferrari Testarossa.
